April 29th to May 02nd 2009
Lay Day – May 01st 2009
The TTGFA celebrated their 29th Anniversary for the tournament on Pigeon Point Beach. Registration took place on Tuesday 28th April where 29 boats and 143 anglers entered the competition. After 2 days of fishing, on Friday May 01st the anglers and their families came to the beach to relax, cook and enjoy the day’s activities.
Carib personnel set up the beach as a little village with Carib Beer signage creating an atmosphere of togetherness and relaxation. A pot boiled under a Carib Tent with Dolphin Broth, one with Geera Pork and another with Stewed Lamb. Coolers filled with Carib Beer and Battery Energy Drink kept the guys busy as they reminisced on the 2 days gone as compared to the past years.
The day was hot and at about 3:00 p.m. after everyone had a bite to eat, they were ready for some excitement. Sheldon John brought everyone to laughter with his extempo, singing on all topics given to him from the crowd, which included Obama, the Summit, a man with a long beard and a man with a baldhead. Hilarious!
Following that, Carib Beer Perimeter Boards lined a track along the sand were 4 Goats stood waiting with their runners to begin a race to the finish line. With numbers on their backs and branded Carib Beer, of Course, the signal was given and off they went. Laughter, screams, loud gestures were made and continued for all 5 races and was the highlight of the evening.
Louis Antoine entertained the crowd with his comical scripts and then made way for Crazy who brought back memories with his songs. The Carib Girls ensured that everyone was dancing and had a great time. This lay day was one for their history books.
The tournament ended with Jovan Jango on board a 50 ft Bertram named "Reel Fanatic" who caught a 825 lb Blue Marlin on the final day of the TTGFA. Jovan also won best angler with the best female angler prize going to Teressa Jack of "Viking 4". Best junior angler was won by Oma Davis also of "Viking 4".
It was an excellent event and next year was promised to be even better. |
