SPONSORED EVENT: Carib Shield 20/20 Final
The Carib Shield 20/20 was an intense 2-month round cricket competition for the 21 participating teams from January 28th to March 21st 2009. Matches were played all over the country with local clubs vying for the top prize of TT$100,000.00.
The teams making it to the semi-final included W. Connection Wanderers vs QPCC and F.C. Clarke Road vs Powergen Sports. These 20/20 matches were played at the Queen’s Park Oval on March 18th under lights.
Only two teams moved on to the Final with Powergen Sports going up against W. Connection Wanderers. The first ball was bowled at 7:00 p.m. The Carib Beer Stand was packed to capacity. The Ansa McAl Hospitality Box was opened to entertain Carib Brewery’s valued customers. Dj Big Rich ringed out tunes at every boundary and the end of each over. Patrons enjoyed the Carib Beer 2 for 1 special.
KMC together with the Carib Girls entertained the spectators at the half- time. The Carib Signage stood out boldly inside the Oval, which included 2 Carib Bottles, Carib Bunting, Carib Perimeter Boards, Carib Banner Sails, Carib Lit Signs. UltraMalt also represented with their drop down banners and lit signs.
At the end of the match, Powergen Sports Club was the 2009 Carib Shield 20/20 Champions. They celebrated to the live tune “Radica” sung by Kenneth Salick, courtesy Carib Beer.
The event was very successful with approximately 3500 persons entering the oval to view the match. Media gave the event good coverage from both print and electronic
