103FM KIDS FEST 2009 TURNS DIVALI NAGAR SITE INTO A MAGICAL WORLD OF FUN AND ADVENTURE

The first ever 103FM and Smalta Kids Fest 2009 took place on Thursday 30th July, at the Divali Nagar Site. This pilot project was a fun filled day of excitement and adventure for 250 children, aged 7 to 12 years. Two hundred of these kids would have qualified through a radio competition, while the rest were children from the Darren Ganga Foundation. The foundation highly endorsed the project and Mr. Darren Ganga himself was present on the day to mingle and even entertain the kids present.

The day's activities began with cultural performances by children of the same age. It began with a dance by 10year old Ms. Sitara Baal who just returned from California where she cropped two gold medals at the esteemed World Championship of Performing Arts in the category of ethnic dance. She was followed by performances by the young and talented Avinash Maharaj, Sangeeta Soobnai, and Sharaz Nabbie. They jumped off their seats however when Anil Bheem and Rishi Gayadeen of the T&Tec Gayatones took to the stage. The kids were also treated to a puppet show and a magic show.

The newly appointed Mayor of Chaguanas, Ms. Natasha Navas also attended the inauguration of the 103 Kids Fest where she brought greetings of inspiration and motivation to the kids. Ms. Navas expressed her desire to encourage and arrange more programs similar to the 103FM Kids Fest, aimed at creating direction and focus to the youths of the Borough

The outdoor part of the days activities included an animal petting zoo provided by the El Socorro Centre for Wildlife Conservation, horse back riding provided by the Police Mounted Branch, a huge bouncy castle provided by Chubby and several other different types of fun parks. The yard of the Divali Nagar was practically turned into a world of excitement and adventure.
